stay in school

It's TWELVE TWENTY SEVEN ?!?

I have been sitting here for roughly the past seven hours working on homework. (Aside from a dinner break, family prayer, and a little exercise break.)
I finally decided to call it a night and had no idea it was past midnight.

I was literally just saying last week that ever since I started Level 1 of my program I didn't have AS much work to do as I thought I would... well rest assured the work has caught up.
And I definitely probably jinxed myself.

But I love it. I love being busy, with projects that i'm actually interested in.
Being in the El Ed program has made such a difference!
Those of you still sludging through generals... don't give up. It's so worth it when you can study what you are planning to pursue, everything becomes applicable!
And oh I would so much rather put together an activity or presentation than fill out worksheets. I'm such a hands-on project person. It's totally how I learn, and i'm not lying when I say that I really do enjoy them.

Although tonight probably got a little out of hand and I don't plan on spending that amount of time on homework every single night, (a bunch of projects just happen to be due around the same time in the next little bit, do you ever feel like your professors forget you have 5 other classes?) I am excited to continue my education and i'm really happy with the choices I've made.

So now that I've vented and let my mind unwind a little bit after a long day, I'm going to bed. :)

 xoxo, goodnight!

hate school but love education

I vow to NOT procrastinate this semester.
(Being late to and with EVERYTHING is my weakness, so yes in interviews when I say i'm "punctual". . . ya thats a lie)

Even if that means giving myself shiny stickers for motivation when I complete a task.
I dont why, but it works.

One of my professors sent me a link to this video:

So, I don't really know what to think of it haha but it definitely does make ya think!
I'm curious to see what he'll say about it in class on Tuesday.

HAPPY FRIDAY

I'm feeling so blessed to be able to go to school lately. :)
I love learning! And getting a higher education has been an incredible experience.
It has been so worth all the hard parts, and really i'm beyond lucky.

Who decided it was okay to assign homework before the first day of school?

I'd like to know.

studio art 1030

Summer semester is officially coming to an end you guys.
I completed CHF and Studio Art both with A's and I have two finals left!
One tomorrow and one on Monday. (um holy cow, wish me luck)

If you know me at all, you know art has ALWAYS been my favorite subject in school! I'm pretty sure I took every available art credit that was offered at davis high. And while my friends were all scrounging to get into a ceramics class senior year, oh I had plenty of art credits to spare. Basically I love it not because I'm good, (because i'm not) but because i'm not graded on the final product. With the arts, I personally think that the process is more important than the product. And isn't that so refreshing! What did I learn from creating an assignment? How was I able to convert my feelings and emotions into gestures on a paper? My art professor that I had this semester was probably one of my favorites! It took some adjustment for me to get use to her style, (like, she never looked at my homework, ever.) But I really grew to appreciate her perspective. I was able to develop

responsibility
accountability
confidence.

Plus a plethora of fun techniques. I'm going to miss that class and I'm glad for the experience :)

A few of the assignments we worked on throughout the semester:
(the ones I didn't lose)

So basically after Monday i'll have a 13 day break before fall semester starts... and I begin Level 1 of the El Ed program!!!
Which means ladies and gentleman....
THAT
I
PASSED
THE
PRAXIS.
Hallelujah, miracles do happen.
That was my final task and I am officially accepted into the program! I'm excited. And nervous. But mostly excited to begin my classes. :)
Which are night classes mostly because....
Me and my mom begin teaching for "My Little School House" on September 4th! We get to meet our classes tomorrow... and i'm oh so excited for that :)
Go ahead and call me Miss Jess

Not to mention, I turn twenty this month. WHAT. On the second day of school, nonetheless.

Life is great. Make each day count.

'not-so white' board

I don't know what girl hasn't at one point in her life had a 'white-board' or some kind of 'memo-board'  hanging somewhere on her walls.
As cute as 'white boards' are,
this is cuter!

I picked up this picture frame from the D.I. for $1.75
Simply removed the embroidered picture inside (from like the 1800's-haha)
Painted the frame
Painted the cardboard that comes behind the picture
Put everything back in place
and instant 'glass' board!

It works with dry-erase markers even better than whiteboards do.
And it's 10 times more fun.

Originally I was planning on buying some cute scrapbook paper to put behind the glass, which I still think I'll do once I get to it. (Ben Franklin was just closed when I was making this)
But painting the cardboard- backing works just as well too!

Plus i'll probably have to re-do the whole thing once I find out what color theme my room is going to have up at college.
Good thing it's super easy!
