Aveda hair project. TRIBAL

The after affects of spending a day at hair school with your friend:

My beautiful friend Amanda goes to hair school at Aveda, in Provo. She invited me to go help her out today with one of her projects... themed "TRIBAL" if you couldn't already tell.
I thought she did a fantastic job and it was super fun to take a break from college to go visit hair school for a day :) Besides, what girl doesn't love getting her hair and make-up done?? PLUS she bought me Cafe Rio. Seriously best day ever. I wish I snapped a picture of all the girls "projects" that were in her phase because there were seriously some awesome creations going on!

PS I was super nervous to pose with a horse and they all had to laugh at me haha I don't blame them.

My friend Jenness also goes to Aveda on a different phase than Amanda, and she got to be the project for another cute girl in Amanda's phase. She looked AWESOME.

Us and the cute artists!

(You should have seen me before we brushed those ringlets out, I was getting some interesting looks thats for sure.)

The beautiful stylist herself!! Love you Mandars!

greasy hair-day blues (turban tutorial)

I have seen girls wear these turban-scarfs before! I'm definitely not the inventor, and am SO glad for the inspiration because when I don't leave myself enough time to wash my hair before leaving the house, it's definitely an eaaaaasy fix. So I messed around with it until I came up with a way to tie it :)
I'm sure there are hundreds of different ways that people tie them, and I surprisingly was asked tons of questions at work on how I tied mine!

So, these are my 5 simple steps:

PS
I officially took my LAST final of the semester today. And i'm holding my breathe until my score is posted!! Wish me luck :)
Oh, and do I even get my 14 days of summer vacation until fall semester?
Uh, no. Because one of my lovely professors is having us read an entire book and writing an essay that is DUE on the FIRST day of school!! Are. You. Kidding. Me.
Happy Birthday to Jessica.

beach waves

The amount of times i've slept in braids in an attempt to achieve the "natural beach waves" look is far too many! No matter how long I left my braids in, or if my hair was wet, or if I tried flat ironing my braid, i never got quite the waves I was looking for. Well, good news. I discovered the solution (that works best for me) by complete accident! I didn't have time to dry my hair so before I left for class, while it was still damp I put it up in a simple top knot. (The one where you gather your hair to a pony-tail position and twist it until it starts to naturally coil around itself, and then I don't use an elastic I just tuck the end through the middle of the bun and pull it tight! If that made any sense.) I ended up sleeping in this do and come morning when I brushed my fingers through my hair, I was pleasantly surprised with these total beach waves. I love that I can finally achieve this look without a single degree of heat! The answer was right under my nose the whole time.

cutest bows in town

DIY
CUTEST BOWS IN TOWN
TUTORIAL

Fabric
Scissors
Hair Clip
(fabric) Glue Gun

The size of fabric completely depends on how big or small you want your bow to be!

Fold the fabric over about 2 inches, then fold it again so it is 3 layers thick.
Glue it down, and cut off the extra!

Fold in each side to the center, overlapping one side over the other so you can glue it in place.

"Scrunch" the fabric in the center, making three little folds. Glue a little dot in between each fold so they stay in place.

With the extra fabric make another strip the same way you made the first one, by folding it twice. This time make the strip about 1/2 an inch wide, glue it in place.

Use this skinny strip to wrap around the center of the bow. You will have to cut away the extra fabric, and glue it in place!

Glue your hair clip on the back of the bow. Make sure to glue the very ends of the clip to the fabric as well, it makes the bow have a more 'bow-ey' look. :)
