ice-cream shoppe in a box

two semesters down.
and my mom is the cutest ever
She'll never know how much I appreciate her little,
"Congrats on another semester of college, so proud of you!"
and all the other thoughtfulness she has provided over the years, always wrapped up in cute bows and with love!!
I couldn't have done it without her,
I love this lady with all my heart!

We are also celebrating the fact that I have a handsome missionary serving the Lord! What better way to celebrate than with an ice-cream party?
(if your asking me, there isn't a better way)

So, I made a little miniature ice-cream shoppe, wrapped it up in a box, and sent it off! (if the chocolate is a completely melted mess by the time it gets to him, at least it was a nice thought right?)

The balloons add to the celebration, plus they serve as great protective packaging!

i dig

Styles i'm currently DROOLING over:

Well, that was fun.
A day-dream break was most necessary.
Now it's back to nose-in-books.
TOMORROW I have my last finals! YAY! :) (of the semester anyway)
Also, I think i'll give dinner a go tonight. I mean, this was suppose to be my time to perfect my "wife/cooking skills"... and i've been regretably slacking :/ BUT this morning Rachael Ray PROMISED me that no matter how lacking in the cooking-skills area I am... I should be able to master this easy baked-chicken recipe. I'll let you know how it goes.

how do i look?

So, do I look like a teacher yet?

Naturally, going into Elementary Education I had to come around to getting a pair of spectacles sooner or later. Just kidding. But in all honesty, I have felt like i've needed some glasses for a few years. Yes, i've silently been suffering through blurry power points, chalkboard writings, and any other type of word that is displayed more than ten feet away. Or at least so I thought? When I finally came around to getting my eyes checked last week, after a thorough examination the Dr. came to the conclusion that I have 20/20 vision. Um, what does he know?!? I'm telling you, blurry is blurry. There is just no getting around it. So he was probably mocking me as he wrote me up the slightest little prescription thinking I was "just one of those girls" who wanted glasses to try to look sophisticated or something. (People really do that, I heard it on the radio.) He must not know there are much easier ways to achieve that look than getting a fast shot of air burst into your eyeball! (He said I was the first he's heard actually scream in years, just leave it to me.)

I also had a presentation today for my Geo Science class. I prepared my very first of many lesson plans and demonstrated it to my (pretend) 5th graders. You could say I got a little bit into character when I snapped, "1 2 3 Eyes on me!" at my professor who was talking to my class mate during my presentation haha. Guys, i'm excited to be a teacher! I love being reminded every now and then why i'm actually enduring through long lectures, egotistical professors, late night essays, and the many choice joys of being a college student. It's a lot of work, but it's going to be worth it. The experience of getting a formal education is priceless! (HA.HA.) Jk, it's actually quite over priced. But really, I wouldn't trade this for anything and i'm sooo grateful for the opportunity that I have to go to school right now! Let's be honest i've always been your cut out school-girl nerd on the inside.

end of semester

Going off of a mere three hours of sleep folks. Yikes! I was up all night, (almost literally) working on a research paper, synthesis, powerpoint, and presentation that were all due for my 7:30 class this morning. Weird that the professor didn't give us three weeks to do it, right? :/ Lucky me for the scary wind storm going on, every time I started to doze off a gust of wind would thrust itself at my window. And trust me my eyes shot open in terror and I had enough adrenaline to last me until the next gust of wind. At about 3:00 a.m. I decided that I was going to take a little nap so I set my alarm for 5:30 a.m. so I could get up, finish my powerpoint and somehow make myself somewhat "presentation presentable" to be on time for CHF. Well, the rest is history. My alarm didn't go off... gosh darn those alarms for being soooooo cliche. I'm lucky my sweet mamma peeked her head in my room at about 6:15 asking me if "shouldn't I be getting ready?" (and she didn't even know about the presentation.) The morning was definitely a blur. I grabbed my lap top, somehow managed to type up a few nonsense slides, threw a bunch of crap in my backpack, got dressed (neglecting the shower, again :/) hair up in pony tail, and ran out the door, to find that an extra stop at the gas station was very necessary! Psh forget money, I wish gas grew on trees!! I walked in the classroom literally in the nic of time as the group presenting before me barely finished up by saying, "Are there any questions?" (Which there weren't, so I really was cutting it close.)
I never thought I would be grateful for the bullying that I witnessed at Dear Old Davis High School ;) haha Since my powerpoint was short and senseless I was actually able to elaborate on my subject of "Cyber Bullying" from personal experience and we made it through the 20 minutes! With TONS of questions... my class mates couldn't comprehend that there were actually fake profiles created by students labeled, "Davis Drama" and "Dart Love." It really is ridiculous and I couldn't believe how I had been constructed to be so numb, thinking every H.S. had it and it was normal! Cyber Bullying is real! And should be taken just as seriously as any other method of cruelty that kids choose to show another.
This is just the beginning of my crazy schedule for these next two weeks. End of semester sure knows how to sneak up and bite you right on the behind! I would type up a little "to do" list right now, just to prove it to you! But every time I start making that forsaken list, I have to stop because it stresses me out too bad! haha All I have to say is, wish me luck! And good luck to all you other end of semester victims. Good news, SUMMER is right around the corner! And not to mention I am creeping up reeeeeeal close on my YEAR mark of this long wait haha. Whoo! :)

DIY easiest head-bands

Bohme got in some super cute hippie-ish head bands, and they are darling! The only problem, I wasn't really willing to spend $25 on one. (Don't tell.) So instead, they inspired me to make my own! Get ready for a 5 minute tutorial on cute hippie head-bands that cost $2 at most and are the easiest thing to make in the world!

1. Buy your ribbon. I got 3/8 of a yard, but this obviously depends on how big your head is, and if the ribbon is stretchy.

 2. Also you'll need some elastic. I like this kind for the headbands, (I have no clue what they are called) but i'm sure any type of elastic would work!

 3. Loop your ribbon under one side of the elastic. I fold the corners in before I do this, like wrapping a present!

4. Use matching thread and sew the ribbon to itself around the elastic!

5. Repeat step 3&4 on the other side.

DIY poor strip. raw clean.

So... I tried the "DIY poor strip."

1 Tbs. non flavored Gelatin
1-2 Tbs. milk
-mix ingredients
-heat for 10 sec.
-mix again
-apply to face
-allow to dry
-peel off face

And I just couldn't keep these to myself. haha I look like a plastic barbie! And I felt like one too... this stuff is powerful. And I could not for the life of me move my mouth, or any muscle in my face for that matter. The 1st & 3rd picture is me sincerely trying to smile, big! haha
Anyway, this was definitely a good method of the DIY poor strip. . . It really will gut out any particle  of gunk you have in your poor. Which for me, was not that much. So that is why if you are planning to try this I have some insight that the tutorial doesn't include...

  • Only apply to the areas of your face that you feel need gutting haha. (black heads and such) When I got done peeling this off, my face felt raw. Smooth as a baby's bottom, yes. But it wasn't necessary for me to have it every where.
  • On that note, it hurts to peel off so be prepared haha.
  • Avoid eyebrows at ALL costs, it WILL rip them out. (yup, learned that the hard way)
  • Only put a thin layer on, mine was way too thick.
  • Avoid skin around eyes, this was an extra sensitive area to peel!

Those in mind, this was an effective recipe! It definitely beats the $12 poor-strips and was much cheaper, which is always a plus.

Now just enjoy a good giggle on my behalf!

Now that i'm feeling fresh, like a brand new woman... Time to hit the sack!

e a s t e r

I know it's a little late for an Easter Post, but this weekend was just too good to not be documented. I have to say that the best thing about me moving home has been family time. I can't believe I was so close to missing out on so much quality time with my 'homies' (get it?) Really though, I am so grateful for the relationships that I have with each member of my family, and I know I rave about them all the time, but get used to it! I have the most wonderful parents in the world, and i'm so grateful for all that they have and will continue to teach me and my siblings. I'm so grateful they are bringing me up in the gospel. I love it with all my heart! It just boggles my mind how some people can spend so much effort fighting what is right! Can't they see that we are happy?? And isn't that whats it's all about? I mean it is called "The Plan of Happiness" for a reason. I love celebrating Easter, and the life of Christ. He is risen! I know the atonement was real a real thing, because I have felt the blessings! Christ knows exactly what we are all going through, he can help us through anything if we just allow him in our lives. I know he knows and loves me, and i'm so grateful for that knowledge! Happy (late) Easter Everybody.

Traditional Easter egg hunt and lunch at the Anderson's! I look forward to this every year and it brings back so many sweet memories for as far back as I can remember. I'm so grateful that I have grandparents who keep up with traditions, I love them to pieces! And how much cuter could these precious little cousins get? I love that it's just as exciting for these little girls (who are the 40th grandkids) as it was for me! (the 7th grandchild) You rock G-ma and G-pa!

Working hard, or hardly working at dyeing away these beauts?

Although the frequent PDA is somewhat gross,  I'm so glad my parents are in love and have been a perfect example to me and my siblings of how to work hard in a relationship and to love! (oh and watch out for the flying caterpillar and duck haha)

(I love Jordan Carver. In case you didn't already know)

Never too old for matching Easter attire. How beautiful are my sisters?? ps.. ava was invited she just didn't want to be in the picture haha

Thats right, I have BOTH sides of the family keeping up with tradition! I know, it isn't fair. The Hepworth's know how to have one heck of an Easter Egg Hunt, and I promise there has never been more laughing then when we are all together.
